Abstract:
A study of ambient air asbestos pollution was performed near an asbestos-textile
factory before (1989) and after (1991) reduction of the asbestos consumption.
2–9 times decreased fibre concentrations were established electronmicroscopically
(TEM). The electron diffraction identification of the long (L>5 mm) fibres
showed mean asbestos concentrations of 0.004 f/ml in 1989, and of 0.002
f/ml in 1991. The maximum values decreased from 0.048 f/ml to 0.017 f/ml.
