Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study if the negative air ions
in moderate concentrations can bring back to normal the reactivity of animals
that were submitted to the action of some necessary (Zn) or toxic elements
(Thyram).
The experiment was performed on 90 Wistar adult
male rats divided into 5 groups: healthy control rats (C), group treated
with Zn (Z), treated with Zn and Thyram (ZT), treated with Zn and negative
air ions (ZA), and a group treated with Zn, Thyram and negative air ions
(ZTA). After 6 weeks the animals were weighed and sacrificed and the histomorphologic
aspect of the testes was examined.
The histologic structure of the testes, modified
at the groups treated with Zn or Zn and Thyram, displays a return to the
relatively normal structure and a prevention of spermatic abnormalities
within the groups that were also treated with negative air ions in addition.
This study shows that negative air ions in moderate
concentrations, increasing the resistance of the organism, reduce or annihilate
the action of some chemicals.
