On the basis of the examination of the offspring damaging effect of 4 solvents
(o-dichloro-benzene, tetraline, tetrachloro-ethylene, cumene), 12 metal
salts (Cr2+, Cr3+, Cr6+, Ni, Co, Cd, Pb,
Mn, In, As, Va, Mo), 3 pesticides (omite, folpet, mortox) and a gas (ethylene-oxide)
authors aimed at studying the linkages between some important occupational
hygienic parameters and dose-effect relationships of embryotoxic and/or
teratogenic chemicals. Results of experimental studies were analysed considering
the IPCS/OECD recommendations and requirements. Attention is drawn to the
consequences of over-estimated risk to reproduction-damaging chemicals
and the possibilities of the risk management in the field of occupational
hygiene.
