Abstract: Since 1995 a national forecasting or warning
system for the biologically effective ultraviolet radiation has been established
in Hungary. In this paper we compare measuring results obtained with different
methods of our monitoring system, moreover the development of the indices
for the national UV watch system is presented. This system is characteristic
for the biologically effective UV radiation in our climate, but the establishment
of a UV information network in a European co-operation can assist in the
progress of health maintenance of the whole population. This article shows
how the UV level indices are calculated, controlled, and presented to the
public.
